£2000 Raised To Provide Houses For Orphan Children in Uganda

During 2008/9 The Rotary Club of Hythe raised £2,000 to build two houses for homeless orphan children.

The villageof Bucence in the diocese of North Kigezi has approximately 120 orphan children most of whom are either homeless or living in poverty conditions. The charity has a project to build a total of 20 houses to house these children at 6 to a house with a live in carer in each house. It is also hoped that this system will keep orphan siblings together as a family. The charity has financed and completed construction of the first 3 houses and the Rotary club of Hythe has, through donations and fund raising, donated the cost of 2 further houses. Since this donation the charity itself has raised the funds for a further 3 houses. The charity has also built an external kitchen building for a family of 5 orphans.
