As part of their 2010/11 international programme the Rotary Club of Hythe has offered to raise funds to build a new classroom at Bucence Primary School in Uganda.
The existing school was recently renovated by money raised by Hythe Bay Primary School. As a result, the Bucence school has been promised a new teacher at P7 level by the District Education Officer (the final level before secondary education), provided a classroom can be built by the school.
If the Uganda government agrees to provide a teacher it will pay that teachers salary but will not fund any building work; this has to be carried out by the local community. Funds raised by the Rotary Club of Hythe will enable this to become a reality, with building due to start in August and completion by Christmas 2010.
