With the rendering sounds of Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia and other Proms favourites, 120 Rotarians and friends attended our first Proms in the Hall Concert direct from the Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park on Saturday, 11th September at Hythe Bay School. The evening proved to be highly successful with drinks, food, hats and flags which gave the evening a real festive party mood with most party goers dressed in patriotic colours.
My thanks go to the Head Teacher of Hythe Bay School and her staff who gave so much support in the preparation of the event and the use of the hall and facilities; to my Committee who helped in the setting up and the clearing on Sunday morning; to John Gabris who, with his technical ability, made the evening go with a swing; to Dudley and Judith Shipton for running the raffle so effectively and, lastly, to those Hythe Rotarians who supported the event. I thank you all and perhaps we will repeat the event again next year.
